The Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg has officially wrapped up the final evaluation of its Lighthouse project and narrative VR experience, FATE OF THE MINOTAUR.
On January 28, the Filmakademie transformed into an immersive playground, where players explored myth and storytelling in new dimensions. With multiple scale options – from stereoscopic 180° film to interactive single- and multiplayer modes – the experience offered fresh insights for everyone. It even featured integrated elements like the Magic Lantern by Universitat Pompeu Fabra and wearable interfaces simulating thermal effects by Aalto University. The free-roaming 8x8m version emerged as the clear crowd favourite.
Two endings, one tough choice: The project’s non-linear storytelling approach proved to be a success, sparking engagement and debate among players. Almost half chose to let the Minotaur live, while the other half decided his fate was sealed – a well-balance outcome that highlights the emotional immersion of the experience.
As we conclude this milestone, one thing is clear: FATE OF THE MINOTAUR has left a lasting impression. A huge thank you not only to those who worked tirelessly over the past 30 months to bring this vision to life, but also to everyone who played, provided feedback and joined us in celebrating this achievement!
A fitting finale, but not the end of the myth.
